Line numbers in all emacs buffers

Question

I want to do this in all the buffers that I opened, these are the line numbers in GNU / Emacs. In my .emacs, I'm trying to add:

(linum-mode t)

but it didn’t help me.

Try with .emacs:

(require 'linum)
(global-linum-mode)

You can also customize the line number format using printf formatting.

eg. %5dfor 5 char additions.

M- x customize-group RET linum RETfor all parameters.
