Is there any real benefit to using the MicrosoftAjax library?

I have been using jQuery for a couple of years now and I like it. In every MVC project that I run, the first thing I do is remove the MicrosoftAjax files from the solution. Now I wonder if they have value? What can I do with them that I cannot easily do with jQuery? Also, why did Microsoft include them in the solution if they require that they fully support jQuery?
