Assuming you mean "broadcast ping" (I get two confusing All The Time, I):
Extract the IP address of the local network gateway, change the last byte to 255, run this IP address.
The main problem with your approach is that the set of all devices on the network that will respond to broadcast ping is usually much smaller than the set of all devices on the network. I found that while most devices will respond to direct ping, very few will respond to broadcast ping. It depends on the implementation.
