Hardware language or tool

I am using a program with C # or C ++ (at a moderate level). Now I want to play with the hardware, for example, start a small motor with a click on the software or blink a light with it or even create a robot with it. I do not want to interfere with an assembly or other low-level language.

Is there any tool or programming language for working with various electronic devices? Any tips or steps to get you started?
