IPhone 4 apps expand automatically on iPad?

It seemed to me that I read / saw / heard something saying that the applications created for the iPhone 4 Retina Display will automatically run on 640x960 when installed on the iPad. However, I can’t find the documentation for this particular function, and my application still works on 320x480 when installed on the iPad.

Is there any step that I missed to make this happen? Or do I just imagine that this is a feature?

Applications do not automatically scale, BUT if you have an image larger than the UIImageView into which you place it, you will get the same large version as the iPad that you can draw.

I don’t think he knows that you need to embed @ 2x images, only those that are actually larger than the space in which you put them.

This is not true; currently apps will not automatically scale on the iPad. Perhaps Apple will add this to iOS 4.x for the iPad, but, of course, there was no indication from them.
