Android smartphone development - on which devices would you suggest checking the application?

Before publishing a new application on the market, on which devices would you suggest checking if it works fine or not? What are your impressions? How do you deal with this?

Are there any empirical values, for example, applications that work smoothly on HTC Desire, behave the same on all HTC devices? Are there some devices on which the application must be tested?

I like to portray myself by releasing a high-quality product, rather than throwing some shit to the market. :) But I believe that I'm not the only one who cannot buy as 5 or more devices to ensure that applications work perfectly on all devices . Well, at least not yet ...;)

Thank you for your help!

Regards S.

Most of the problems in my application freeze on droids ... no other device reports freeze ... just a droid.

If you have access to various devices, very good. If not, check the emulator for at least all possible screen sizes and densities. That is my advice.

I recommend touch screen testing and 5-way navigation in addition to different densities. Testing the screen orientation may also be good, but I did not understand how to do this with AVD.

I am testing a droid, and although my application runs flawlessly, I still get comments and 1 star ratings for crashes on other phones like X10, EVO, etc.

I also focus on quality and don’t want to put a half-tested application on the market. I spent tons of testing time. In the end, it didn’t work on some phones, and I really can’t do anything about it.
