Difference between hello / and hello in file names, URI

What is the difference between using a directory name and using it with a trailing ( hellovs hello/). This seems to be of great importance in web development.

An end slash indicates that "hello /" is a directory.

The web server that sees hello / will either provide you with a list of the contents of the directory or the default page for the directory with the name hello.

• If a default document is configured for this directory, the web server serves it for the client.
• If the default document is not found or not configured for this directory, the web server will display the contents of the directory.
