Connect and manage background process input events

Question

I am currently exploring ways to capture and control a process using mouse / keyboard events while it is in the background (Ala, not the active window). I think you could think of it as a more complex macro that does not require an active window / process.

Now I know that the process connection code is very well documented on the Internet, so there is no need to discuss this. My question is: how to send keyboard / mouse events to the background process after connecting it?

I am looking for links to articles, search keywords or, at best, sample code (please try to save the C ++ code).
