Any program to combine multiple images into one for use with CSS and to reduce the number of visits to both ends?

I am looking for ways to reduce the number of rounds on my site for my clients. Right now I have several images that I think should be combined into one image:

http://aspnetajax.componentart.com/common/themes/20101/Office2010Silver/Static.png

and then spit out some CSS as follows:

http://aspnetajax.componentart.com/common/themes/20101/Office2010Silver/theme.css

... in this way I can reduce round trips and increase the speed with which my site is used (after the first load). Is there a simple tool that will do this for me? I consider 2010 and someone automated this somewhere. I have Visual Studio and Expression Web, and I do not see it there

Here is this online CSS Sprite Generator that should do what you are looking for. It will generate an image sprite from an encrypted collection of individual images, as well as appropriate CSS rules for targeting and displaying each component image.
