Prevent YouTube from playing automatically

Question

one thing that annoys me on youtube is that it always starts to automatically play the video after opening the video page.

Is there any way to prevent this? I do not see such an option in the profile settings.

You can install the flashblock extension of Firefox. This will prevent any flash from firing automatically. This works great on youtube, and as a bonus, it will get rid of a huge amount of annoying ads with blinking text or something else.
