Integrating .Net Service with Microsoft Exchange

Is there any API for integrating a server application with Microsoft Exchange?

I have a server application that should read contacts / prospects information entered into exchange through Outlook. What is the best approach? Outlook automation, or is there some kind of API that I can use?

My environment is .Net/C#.

Any advice appreciated.

You did not specify which version of Exchange Server you want to integrate with.

In Exchange 2010, you can use Exchange Web Services .
