Connecting my Android phone to the DDMS SDK utility

I am trying to use the DDMS SDK utility to capture screens from my Droid X.

I installed Java JDK and Android SDK. I installed the USB driver on my Windows laptop and connected my Droid X to the USB port. Windows XP can see that the Droid works fine in Windows Explorer as a removable USB device, but the DDMS utility does not show any devices.

Running "adb devices" in the DOS window also does not contain any devices.

Yes, the location of java.exe has been added to my PATH. Yes, the Droid is configured to debug USB.

So why doesn't DDMS see my phone?

I had the same problem. This was solved after I connected the device to another USB port, as recommended Android device does not appear in DDMS
