Fullscreen matplotlib mats

I am visualizing numpy arrays with imshow from pyplot and would like to see only the array data on a full screen display without toolbars or window borders.

Starting with "ipython-pylab" and then calling imshow () and show () gives me a window, but pressing "f" does not switch the full screen mode. Is there a function call to switch full screen? (which would also be preferable to manually press a key)

I think that full screen mode is only implemented for the gtk matplotlib backend (I could be wrong there ...). In any case, it is definitely not implemented for all platforms and backends supported by matplotlib.

, ( 2D numpy), pygarrayimage .
