Change or possibly remove tab border on tabwidget

Question

I recently tweaked the user interface of my tabs by setting backgroundResource to each tab, then switch between selected / not selected depending on which tab is currently in focus. I have one problem, although there seems to be a white frame that comes with a default tabwidget that extends to the other (unselected) tabs at the bottom. I want to change the color or delete it. Is there any way to do this?
