Is there a free geo database?

I want to create a location-based application, and I don’t know how to get some location data, for example: latitude and longitude of nearby stars, KFC or pizza?

Is there a free online database? how do others get this data? how squeal, four?

Openstreetmap has quite a few POIs in its database, I think, check your render map if it contains the information you need.

Oh, and you need about 100 GB for full db :)
