How long will web development take?

I'm going to embark on an epic web development journey. Epic for myself, that is. The largest and most complex. The rough business in this project is time. My boss wants me to include this project in the schedule, but I just have no idea how to do this.

So, can someone give me some advice: how can I calculate the time taken to develop a web project? I mean the following:

  • On line of code. Set a certain amount of time on a line of code, and then try to determine the total amount of code needed.
  • To the website. An attempt to identify fragments of the project that can be provided in a short time
  • Trying to guess the whole amount that will be required.

Can someone give me some advice?

Divide your functions into separate fragments or steps. Once you do this, each piece will be easier to evaluate. Remember to consider system integration and testing. And keep in mind that you need to consider debugging and bug fixing times.

Forget about lines of code. In any case, you will not know how many lines of code you will need until you finish, among other reasons why this metric will not tell you anything useful.

Here is the simplified version:

  • Gather the requirements.

  • Group by function

  • Break each function into tasks. Ideally, the task should be no more than 4 hours in the estimated length.

  • Add watch
