Is it possible to have one configuration, and not separate Debug and Release (in our case)?

We develop a product for domestic customers. We do not have a QA team and we do not use statements. Performance is important, application size is not.

Is it good to have one configuration (instead of separating Debug and Release) that will have debugging information (pdbs) and also optimize performance?

Are there any flaws in this approach?

Hold both. There is a reason for having two configurations! Use Debug for debugging and Release for daily use.

However, you should not remove the debug version only for optimization. This is not a valid argument, as you can optimize your release version and leave the debug version as is.
