Autofocus when scanning a QR code

I am working on a BlackBerry application that will be used in cafes and restaurants, and one of the functions is scanning a QR code.

Is there a way to make the camera autofocus a QR code?

Search, I found FocusControl that looks like the one I'm looking for. Unfortunately, it is only available with OS 5.0.

I wonder how to achieve the same thing in OS 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7.

Any suggestions?

You can not. In OSs up to 4.5, you can run your own camera application and listen to recently created image files (FileSystemJournalListener). Thus, if BB has autofocus, the image has a larger definition.
