Tools :: texi2dvi - what happened to him?

I am familiar with the fact that you can create LaTeX reports directly from R using the package toolsand texi2dvi, but I was surprised to see that the package is toolsmissing. It is simply not in the CRAN repositories. Does anyone know of an adequate replacement texi2dvi?

The package toolsis part of R itself. CRAN recommended packages, but not the main packages that come with sources.
