How to determine the time taken to complete a Rails request

I would like to include query statistics (i.e. returned data and elapsed time) in my views in the Index (similar to Google). I found that the records were returned, but it’s hard for me to find the elapsed time.

I am using Rails3 beta and the will_paginate plugin.

The Rails Footnote plugin does this by registering itself with ActiveRecord as a connection adapter. Here is the appropriate source code from this project, which should allow you to get started.
