JMS Message.acknowledge () at Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE

What happens in TIBCO when Message.acknowledge () is called in a session with AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE mode?

I mean, is this call ignored on the client side? or server side? or does the server perform any action on this call?

The reason I ask is because there is an application that stores messages in an automatic confirmation session. And during the loading period, the execution time of the method increases from 0.5 ms to 30 ms.
