MonoDevelop - Does GTK Designer just show an empty square?

Question

I have problems with the GTK designer for working with MonoDevelop. I tried 2.4 on Arch Linux and gave this problem. Then I tried 2.2 on OpenBSD, and this gives the same problem. Both machines have 64 bits.

Instead of having a window for dragging things, I just have an empty square:

So what gives? With my empty square, I can not drag anything onto it, not just VBox or another container. He does not react to anything.

Am I missing some GTK # configuration or what? I am very unlikely that both of the OS packages I tried are broken. In addition, I have attached (huge) generosity to this, because it is a pretty big problem for me.

Good, so I finally got a little closer to solving the mystery. I usually use Fluxbox as my window manager. I tried using both KDE and Gnome-Session, and both of them make MonoDevelop work properly (although there is still no window border, you could at least drag components onto it). Now my question is what makes Fluxbox not for this?
