How to put a view on the back button in the navigation bar?

Hey guys, I wonder how to put a look at the back button in the navigation bar? Not on the title, but on the back button. It seems to me that the back button is a UIBarButtonItem that does not inherit from UIView ... Help please!

You can do this programmatically using initWithCustomView .

AtomicElementViewController.m has a good example.
