Asp.net, paypal and IPN .. how to automate payment?

I am trying to integrate Paypal into an asp.net application. It works great, the last thing I would like to do is automate the payment notification.

In particular, how does IPN work? I would like to set the field to 1 when the user buys the service ... How can I do with ipn? I ask here to avoid reading all 120 pages of PayPal IPN documentation ...;)

There are many examples of how to create a basic IPN listener. After you build it and indicate your PayPal account on it, all transactions will be sent to the recipient as a request. You will need to analyze the relevant data from this request to determine the success of the transaction and process the order.
