Too many frameworks for a Java network. Frightened and confused :(

I am an experienced Java developer who is currently trying to learn web development using Java. I also had web development experience with ASP.NET (C #) and PHP. I know what basic concepts (JSP, Servlet, Bean) are and are looking for a framework for work.

My question is not "What is the best framework for Java" or something like that.

After reading many topics and searching on Google for hours, I feel scared and confused. There are so many frames and endless combinations. I am going to change my mind to do this in .net or even PHP.

  • Is Java really suitable for very small teams (1 or 2 members) for developing web applications?
  • Is Java really suitable for developing Web 2.0 applications?
  • Non .NET and PHP are much less confusing in this context.
  • If you choose a framework and after 6 months I decide to use another, is it possible to easily migrate?
  • It just seems that it is not worth spending the same efforts that I spent to learn Java in a framework that can be changed or become useless at any time. Am I mistaken?
