Can the ECB be limited to “capture” only the current buffer when it is activated?

From get go: sorry if I don't use the correct emacs terminology - I'm relatively wet behind the ears in the emacs world.

Most of my work at emacs is for R programming, and I use ESS and ECB to do this pretty happily. I would like to create a custom ECB layout that uses the entire bottom of the screen as my R console, and also put some ECB-specific buffers on the left.

Using the ECB-esque Layout Schemes , I would like my layout to look something like "left13", d like the fullness of the "compile" buffer - my R console (or any shell, for that matter):
