Authentication / authorization in a JSF web application?

I found that in JSF there are two types of authentication mechanism.

  • JAAS (Java Authentication and Authorization Service)
  • Container is managed

(please correct if I am wrong)

I tried to find the best tutorial that will help you learn any of these methods. Unfortunately, I ended up in many unfinished lessons. Can someone give me a solid tutorial or some guide where I can catch the rope.

There are more than two types of authentication mechanisms (independent of JSF). The Oracle documentation (SUN) is actually very good, and I would recommend it:

- JAAS ( Java), JASS.
