Although I have a feeling that this is technically impossible, itβs still worth asking. Can I turn on the Macbook Pro keyboard backlight for individual keys? I am working on a grid-based software that allows the user to navigate by pressing any key on the keyboard to place the cursor at that grid point. It would be really cool if I could just turn on the backlight for certain keys somehow, to give the user an easy way to see the current cursor position.
Is it even possible to use an application to control the keyboard backlight, not to mention individual keys?
Yes, in the programs that control the backlight.
iTunes visualizer that pushes the keyboard backlight to music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUXLkwlF9e8
How to manually configure (through the plugin): http://osxdaily.com/2006/11/30/how-to-manually-adjust-the-macbook-pro-keyboard-backlight/
I'm not sure about the programs that manage individual keys, but since installing on a Mac will require additional hardware, I doubt it.
