DDMS does not display program data on the device

Can I view the email database on the device through DDMS? As I can see and access the SMS database on the emulator through DDMS.

Ya you can access everything on the emulator, but the same does not apply to the device ... It provides limited access ... There is no access to system files ... Guess what, for the security of our own devices ... Therefore, you can't access your email database as far as i know!
