Migration from Struts 1.x to GWT 2.x

This is a fairly open-ended question since I am only at the beginning of my research, but it’s hard for me to find resources on how to mix GWT in a Struts application with the ultimate goal of removing Struts. So, I was hoping that someone out there could point me to a good link or if they could be a link here. The closest I found to what I need is http://pjug.org/docs/gwt092008.pdf , but the description without listening to the presentation leaves me with a few questions. Of course, I will continue to mess around, adding my own discoveries when I create them, but any advice on pitfalls or abysses from the community will be appreciated.

One specific question ... Would it be better to create a separate GWT application that will simply make RPC for the Struts application and slowly pull the functionality into the GWT application?

If you have a service level in the Struts application, you can try to reuse the service level and use it for both Struts and the GWT interface. I would not use the RPC approach, as this leads to significant errors in coding and performance.

Better to develop them side by side in the same webapp.
