Verify user account by email

Really sorry, because it is almost "please send me the code" - although in fact it is "send me a link to another discussion"

I am setting up a .net membership system and must verify users from the email address they provide with a link like "click here to verify your account."

Just wondering if anyone knew of good textbooks or posts about this? I searched for about an hour and can’t find anything - so I ask a question.
