What is special about Cloud Computing?

What is cloud computing?

I read about Cloud Computing somewhere on the network and found out something like "The concept is like using E-Mail, so we don’t care what happens to the server. We are only connected with our messages." What scares me is that the concept of emailing is similar to this cloud computing. why do we need a special term for this. In addition, email is an older concept compared to this cloud computing. or is it that I am missing something that I could not understand ???
