Good search services for a PHP-based workgroup (CodeIgniter)?

Does anyone know of any good third-party open source licenses or search services (like Yahoo BOSS) that index and browse content?

I am creating a jobboard niche in CodeIgniter and I would prefer my search not to be in PHP.

I would like the service to be customizable to support content refinement and location search. Thus, a truly closed tool may not be correct.
