I did the whole configuration.

Here is my manifest file:

Something I'm missing. I think, or maybe the problem is in the 2.1 Google API?

I got my answer myself

just look at the exception log

last lines

MapViews can only be created inside instances of MapActivity. 06-14 22:13:34.031: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at com.google.android.maps.MapView.(MapView.java:281) 06-14 22:13:34.031:

this means that you need to expand your activity with MapActivity not Activity, I think most of you know, but I found out now :)

I had this problem and it was solved using the following two steps:

1) Put the following line in the application (important) element of the AndroidManifest.xml file.

<uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" />

2) extend MapActivity instead of Activity.

Here I change the Activity to MapActivity.

So instead

public class HelloMap extends Activity {

change it to

public class HelloMap extends MapActivity {

If you are new to using Google maps and you set xml and activity, and you got this type of error, then you are not expanding your class from MapsActivity, so extend your class from mapactivity, it will start working!

// misuse of activity
