How to add a MIME handler in Firefox and Internet Explorer from the installer

I am looking to create an installer that will add a handler for the MIME type in Firefox and Explorer. The installer that I will use will be either INNO (aka Oh Nooo!) Or NSIS.

Both Mozilla and Microsoft recommend adding a handler. So far, all I could find for Firefox was how to add / remove / enlarge manually, no matter what I wanted to hide from the user.
