I'm trying to figure out what the costs are of running apache on AWS all the time. Assuming the service is unlikely to be used, does anyone know how many hours a processor will eat in a month just by sitting there and running? I understand that this is a little impractical, but I'm trying to figure out what the cost of entry is to deploy the application on this platform (compared to GAE). I suspect that he is small, but I would like to know.

Amazon charges EC2 instances for uptime, not processor time. The cheapest type of Linux instance is 8.5c / hour, or around $ 37 a month. You can reduce this by signing up for a reserved copy that you plan to run for a long period, or by using spot prices at the price of the copy , where you bid what you are willing to pay.

You will also receive a fee for transferring data to and from the EC2 network, as well as storage costs if you permanently store data on AWS. They should be small compared to the cost of starting an instance.
