Is it possible to develop a Windows driver (in particular, as a PDF printer driver that displays data on the screen instead of actual printing) without using Visual Studio? I am thinking about using free C ++ tools like MinGW / gcc.
Both the Windows SDK and the Windows DDK come with a Visual C ++ compiler. You do not need Visual Studio for this, although you may have some success with the free versions of Express. I would prefer it for MinGW anytime.
