How can I get BibTeX to show months in a language other than English?

I have been using the three-letter abbreviations in BibTex for several months, but when I compile my document, the names of the months appear in English.

Is there any way to change the output language?

I use natbib, but don't mind going back to vanilla BibTeX, if necessary.

I believe that the output language of the three-letter abbreviations of the month is controlled by the style of bibliography. See, for example, these French bibliography styles .
