Level of detail for 3D landscapes / models on mobile devices (Android / XNA)

I plan to develop for WP7 and Android.

What is the best way to display (and walk through) a 3D scene / model in terms of LoD ? Data is planned as island (Singapore).

1) Dynamic level of detail in real-time rendering
2) Discrete LoD
3) Others?

And consult with some considerations / algorithms / resources / source codes. something like a loD book is also good.

Side note: I'm new to this area, but pretty good at C / C ++. And I did not read the LoD book .

With modern hardware, you don't have to do ad-hoc geometry for (C) LoD, as you do in ROAM. Instead, you should cut out the relief in blocks (organized in a quadrant or similar setting) and send it to the device in nice hardware packages.

See Thatcher Ulrich for an excellent scripture on the subject .

you can see how Chris Pruett talks about writing real-time games for Android in Google I / O 2010 (he talks about LOD).
