My friend and I are developing an iPad application (a lot of CoreGraphics materials). But we cannot find an agreement. I tell him that testing on the device is very important, he tells me that testing on the iPhone 3G / 3GS will be enough (I have both devices). Can you tell me, maybe we can really test our application on 3GS? The main thing is that the interface will be developed iPad, so I'm not even sure how we do it ...

For a high quality product, you need to test the device. The performance of the iPad is different, and if you have any kind of interaction that is related to streams, this can lead to race conditions that you cannot find on an iPhone (slower) or a simulator (too fast). I also saw how several students faced memory problems that they did not find on the simulator, but what they find on the device.

This does not mean that you need to buy a device - you can either ask a friend with an iPad to become a beta tester, or you can hide in Starbucks or Peet's. You will be surprised how many people will bring iPads, and how many of them are ready to try the new application.
