How to get started with git?

I'm a Ruby on Rails developer and want to use Git for my next project, but I'm not quite sure how to start learning this.

I have too many basic questions, such as "Can I run my application from the repository?" or "Can I roll back on a website?"

Any help would be appreciated.

Depending on your use case, you can run everything from your git repository. In fact, you have the structure of your project, and in the root directory there is a hidden directory ".git", which contains all the history and other information related to your repo. I know the owners of the TekPub.com website , so I am biased, but they have a great series that started with Git.

I would also look at http://git-scm.com/documentation "for some good resources.
