Open iBooks from iPad

I am creating an application for a client. The iPad will be preloaded with an e-book that we will create ourselves. This book will not be available at the bookstore, but will be downloaded via itunes.

• Is it possible to open an iBooks application from my application through some URL scheme?
• Is it possible to directly link our pre-loaded book with our application?

Any information would be appreciated.

You can start a mini web server with your application and open a URI, for example itms-books://localhost:1234/my.epub

In short, no. iBooks will not be able to download everything that comes with the application bundle.
