Lightweight MVC - no frame

Hi, if this is a naive question, but what did people do before the mvc framework became so popular? All you heard about today and im talk php here is mvc, Zend, etc., But what did the developers do in advance?

Are there some developers who use the mvc template, but without a framework - if so, how do they do it, and is it really difficult to configure?

MVC is a design pattern. You can easily collapse your own MVC infrastructure (technically even without using object-oriented programming). The main goal is simply to separate the data warehouse, business logic, and presentation.

When I first found out about MVC, I decided that trying to sift through the mountains of CakePHP code or other frameworks was just too complicated. I started writing my own “framework” using this tutorial (http://fuelyourcoding.com/php-frameworks-just-roll-your-own-part-1/) . It really is not as much as you think (you can go through this tutorial in one day and have a very beautiful mini-MVC), and later you can expand it into a full-fledged structure if you have the time and dedication.
