How to calculate power consumption on an Android mobile device using Wi-Fi?

I applied the routing protocol on an Android 1.6 mobile device that uses a wireless (ad-hoc) network for messaging. Now I would like to evaluate it in terms of energy consumption, the base would be to try to calculate the energy wasted in order to transfer one packet, does anyone know how to do this? Software / hardware solutions are welcome!

I do not think that any application will give you any meaningful result. You really need to look at the hardware solution, and most likely it should be at home - brew.
