Azure DNS lookup time with CNAME

It takes 9 seconds for my oratorius.com domain, if I use the nslookup command, I need to set the timeout to 9 seconds, otherwise I get a timeout. Users are having trouble getting my site. My host server says:

There is no delay on our part, you have CNAME records directed to oratorius.cloudapp.net, which causes delays. You need to contact DNS administrators for this hostname to find out what the problem is with us.

Does anyone have another issue with Azure? How to start troubleshooting?
