Form field values ​​are always stored as strings. Whether they are like integers does not matter; they are strings. You need to convert them to integers before treating them as such :)

The jQuery val () function always returns a string. In many cases, you can mix numbers and strings (for example, in arithmetic), when comparing two string variables, javascript will perform string comparisons, not a numeric comparison (as you would expect)
