Why do people still use tables, inline css, et al?

When you learn HTML, etc. currently, the mantra is always "Pure code = best code."

So why do sites like Mobile Me and Google and Facebook use so many tables and other incorrectly-semantically correct code?

Thank!

Because people still use IE6, unfortunately, and it is so incredibly bad for CSS that it makes it almost useless for CSS selectors of any complexity. Until IE6 disappears and the dead are dead in cold land, you will still see a lot of this.

If you could see what SharePoint generates, you are likely to go into cramps.

So, remember that there are some cases when you need to use table formatting and inline styles, since all clients really know how to manipulate.
