AI adversary car logic in car racing

Hi, I want to develop an AI car (opponent) in a car race, which should be my direction in order to develop them with less complexity, because I have no idea. because the player’s car moves along a plz scroll path, suppose I need to use relative motion or the concept of a waypoint, but this should also be changed on the scroll track (i.e. the player’s car movement)
