PHP: what are the current column-oriented databases

What are the currently used column-based databases that work with PHP? and are any of them free?

I think you want to know about NoSQL databases, not about database oriented columns.

Both are often referred to as NoSQL databases , most implementations are free, but MongoDB should be the most popular in the PHP community .
