Use different Solr search algorithms for each search.

Question

Is it possible in Solr 1.4 to indicate which similarity class to use for each search within the same index?

Say I have 2 types of searches (keyword and brand). For keyword searches, I want to use the DefaultSimilarity class. But for brand search I want to use my CustomSimilarity class.

I modified schema.xml to indicate one affinity class to use. But I came to this requirement that I need to use 2 different similarity classes.

I will be glad to your thoughts on this matter.
